Hepatitis C Elimination at the Intersection of People Who Use Drugs and the Criminal Justice System
In the first year of the "Moving from Hepatitis Discovery to Elimination: NIH Research Advancing Hepatitis Elimination" series, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) hosted a webinar presenting the latest research related to HCV testing and treatment among persons who use drugs and/or are incarcerated. In year two of the webinar series, NIDA will host a second webinar focused on collaborative research on expanding access to hepatitis C prevention, testing and treatment among persons who use drugs within the criminal justice system.

Dr. Matthew Akiyama, Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine | Hepatitis C in the criminal legal system: Using a health systems framework to understand challenges to and opportunities for elimination

Dr. Risha Irvin, Johns Hopkins Medical School | Hepatitis C testing and treatment in Louisiana: A model for national hepatitis elimination

A round-table discussion will follow with comments from:
-Dr. Frederick L. Altice, Yale School of Medicine and Public Health
-Dr. David Thomas, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine
